Barcelona have identified Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala as the man to replace the outgoing Carles Puyol, according to the Daily Mail.
Premier League trio Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all said to be interested in the Frenchman - but could miss out on his signature to La Liga giants Barcelona.
Manchester City made a move to sign Mangala during the final days of the January transfer window but was unable to tempt Porto into selling the £30million-rated centre-back.
Manchester United will also be in the market for a new centre-back in the summer as Rio Ferdinand is likely to follow Nemanja Vidic out of Old Trafford.
Chelsea, on the other hand, would look to bring in Mangala if fellow Barcelona target David Luiz decides to swap west London for Catalonia.
However Barcelona are said to be favourites to sign Mangala as they have ramped up their interest in the 23-year-old following Puyol’s announcement that he will be leaving the Camp Nou at the end of the season.
