With an array of talent arriving at Chelsea over the last 18 months, competition for places is obviously going to be fierce.
However, this season under Jose Mourinho, one man has lost out more than people would have expected.
Under previous managers, Juan Mata would of been the first name on the team sheet every week due to his immense qualities.
However, since the arrivals of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Andre Schurrle and Willian, Mata has been pushed out of the starting line-up and has struggled to get his place back at Stamford Bridge.
With this year being a World Cup one, sitting on the bench every week could seriously harm Mata's chances of being on the plane to Brazil.
What Mata needs is consistent playing time. If he continues to start on the bench for Chelsea, Mata should seriously consider his options this transfer window.
And, with teams such as PSG being potential £30m suitors, a move for Mata may ultimately help further his career by playing on a more regular basis.
Whilst it might not be what Chelsea fans want to hear, a player has to think about themselves at such a time, and if the former Valencia star wants to make an impact in Brazil, he may seriously have to think about leaving.
