Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has revealed former
Chelsea teammate Didier Drogba should take some of the credit for his
fantastic start to the season.
Sturridge has been in devastating form for the Reds this season, scoring 10 goals in 11 games for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The Reds are currently sitting in third spot in the Premier League, mainly due to the exceptional form of Luis Suarez and Sturridge.
Sturridge, who is the Premier League’s top scorer with eight goals, believes his meeting with Drogba during the summer has helped him become a better player.
The 24-year-old, speaking to the Sunday Times, said on meeting in America: "I saw Didier in Miami this summer. He said the strongest thing an individual footballer can have is the mental.
"It's not about the tactical, it's not about the technical, it's not about the physical. If you believe in yourself, that will set you apart."
Sturridge also praised Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard for helping him to change his ‘mindset’.
“He's all about self belief; don't go out there with the mentality of trying to do something. Just let it happen," added Sturridge.
